Martha Beirne is the Sustainability Issues Executive at the British Plastics Federation; a role she recently joined to help drive the industry’s work on key environmental and sustainability priorities. Working closely with members, she supports the BPF Sustainability Committee and its subgroups, including the ESG and Carbon Taskforce, contributing to major initiatives such as the industry’s net zero guidance and the Ocean Clean Sweep programme.
Martha’s role focuses on advancing sustainability across the plastics sector, strengthening collaboration between industry leaders, policymakers, and external partners, and promoting credible pathways toward net zero.
Before joining the BPF, Martha worked as a Net Zero and Sustainability Consultant, advising clients in the property and construction sectors on decarbonisation strategies, compliance, and funding criteria. With over three years of consultancy experience, she brings a strong foundation in stakeholder engagement, data management, and sustainability regulation.
Martha holds a BA in Geography and Business Management and has professional qualifications in energy efficiency and whole-life carbon assessment.
